Check in from 3pm and park in your garage. ## Plan a day at Jamberoo Action Park For a big day out with the kids, [Jamberoo Action Park](https://ridgewaterskiama.com.au/explore-kiama/things-to-do/jamberoo-action-park/) sits at 1215 Jamberoo Road, inland from Kiama past the [Jamberoo](https://ridgewaterskiama.com.au/explore-kiama/towns/jamberoo/) township. The park's own directions from the south: take the Jamberoo exit off the highway at Kiama, follow the road into Jamberoo, turn right at the roundabout at the end of town and follow the signs for 4 km. The park is on the left. The park opens on set days through the season, not every day. Through October it opens Friday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm, so check the [open hours calendar](https://www.jamberoo.net/park-info/open-hours/) before you lock in your dates, and buy [tickets online](https://www.jamberoo.net/tickets/). A self-catering apartment makes the day easier. Pack lunch the night before in a full kitchen, and put the wet towels and swimmers through the washer and dryer when you get back. If you would rather cook at the park, it hires out gas BBQs for $50, including the gas bottle and delivery to your spot. Both are patrolled only in summer: Easts Beach every day from 21 December to 31 January, Kendalls from 22 December to 30 January, then weekends in February. Kendalls also has a playground, picnic tables, showers and toilets. For a patrolled swim outside those weeks, head to Surf Beach in town. Council says it is patrolled every day from the September school holidays to the April school holidays, with Council lifeguards on weekdays and surf club volunteers on weekends and public holidays. Swim between the flags, and check [Beachsafe](https://beachsafe.org.au) for conditions on the day. Little ones who aren't ready for waves have calmer options. You can [book two apartments for two families](https://ridgewaterskiama.com.au/stay/groups/) on the same site, each with its own kitchen and parking. ## Walk the rainforest at Minnamurra For a half day away from the sand, the [Minnamurra Rainforest](https://ridgewaterskiama.com.au/explore-kiama/landmarks-and-walks/minnamurra-rainforest/) Centre is inland at 345 Minnamurra Falls Road, Jamberoo. NSW National Parks describes the [Lyrebird](https://ridgewaterskiama.com.au/explore-kiama/landmarks-and-walks/kiama-wildlife-and-nature-walks/) loop walk, about an hour, as ideal for walking with children, and the Minnamurra Falls walk has viewing platforms with rainforest, waterfall and canyon views. The centre is open 9am to 4pm daily (closed Christmas Day) and vehicle entry is $12 per day. NPWS says it may close at short notice when the car park fills, and suggests arriving outside 11am to 2pm. The café is closed until further notice (the centre sells light refreshments and hot drinks), so pack snacks.
