## Pets and dog-friendly Kiama

Bring the dog: most of our apartments take pets on request, and Kiama has off-leash beaches, headland reserves and dog-friendly cafes close by.

**Are pets allowed at Kiama Ridge Waters?**

Yes, small to medium pets are welcome on request in every apartment except 3-Bed Apartment with Study Nook. Send the host a photo of your pet before arrival, and allow for a $200 cleaning fee. Read the details on our [pet-friendly stays page](https://ridgewaterskiama.com.au/stay/pet-friendly/).

**Are there dog-friendly beaches in Kiama?**

Yes, three. Dogs can run off-leash in the centre of Bombo Beach, at the southern end of Jones Beach between Minnamurra Headland and Cathedral Rocks, and in the middle of Werri Beach, Gerringong. Destination Kiama says off-leash hours are sunrise to sunset, and dogs must stay leashed getting there.

**Is Kendalls Beach dog friendly?**

No. Destination Kiama lists Kendalls Beach, Surf Beach and Seven Mile Beach as beaches that are not dog friendly. Kiama Council bans dogs from beach sand and water unless the beach has a designated off-leash area. Take your dog to Bombo Beach or the southern end of Jones Beach instead.

**Is Easts Beach dog friendly?**

No. Easts Beach is not on Destination Kiama's list of dog-friendly beaches, and Kiama Council bans dogs from beach sand and water outside designated off-leash areas. For a nearby run, Marsden Head overlooks Easts Beach and has an off-leash area, reached via Tingara Crescent. Easts Beach is a 15-minute walk away.

**Can you take dogs on the Kiama Coast Walk?**

Yes. Destination Kiama says leashed dogs are welcome along the full Kiama Coast Walk, which runs for more than 20 km. Some beaches on the route ban dogs, so follow the signs or use the street behind. Plan your section with our [Kiama Coast Walk guide](https://ridgewaterskiama.com.au/explore-kiama/landmarks-and-walks/kiama-coast-walk/).

**Where are off-leash dog parks near Kiama Ridge Waters?**

The nearest are Kaleula Head Reserve, reached via Gwinganna Avenue, and Marsden Head just to its south, via Tingara Crescent. Further afield, try Bombo Headland with its dog agility park, Minnamurra Headland, Gerringong Headland, or Black Head Reserve at Gerroa, which Destination Kiama says is open 24 hours.

**Where are dogs not allowed in Kiama?**

Kiama Council bans dogs from beach sand and water outside off-leash areas, Crooked River, parts of the Minnamurra River, and parks except outer footpaths. Dogs must stay 10 metres from playgrounds and public barbecues, and keep off public bathing areas, shopping areas and sports fields during organised games.

**Are there dog-friendly cafes in Kiama?**

Yes. Destination Kiama names dog-friendly spots including Saltwater Café, Slow Dough and KG Café, plus Stoic Brewery's outdoor beer garden, and its pet-friendly list also includes Native Cafe, Stonewall Cafe, The Brooding Cafe, Diggies and The Grand Hotel. Most venues welcome well-behaved dogs in outdoor areas, so check before you go. The Original Ice Creamery even sells a Doglato. Browse more options in our [Kiama cafes guide](https://ridgewaterskiama.com.au/explore-kiama/eat-and-drink/kiama-cafes/).

**Can I take my dog to Minnamurra Rainforest?**

Plan to leave your dog behind. Minnamurra Rainforest is part of Budderoo National Park, and NSW National Parks says dogs and other pets are not permitted in most national parks and reserves. Book boarding for the day, or swap in a leashed coastal walk instead.

**Is there pet boarding near Kiama?**

Yes. Destination Kiama lists Gerringong Pet Accommodation, which offers day and night care with cabins and shady play areas on two acres of enclosed property. Gerringong is about a 10-minute drive from the apartments. Contact the business directly to check availability and book.

**Do holiday parks in Kiama allow dogs?**

Some do, with limits. Werri Beach, Kendalls on the Beach and Surf Beach holiday parks allow dogs on powered and unpowered sites, but not during NSW school holidays or long weekends. Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park allows pets outside school holidays. Always call ahead to confirm.
